Why Anxious Patients Choose Sedation Dentistry at Kayscreek Dental
Call (801) 889-2090 to talk with our team about a sedation appointment that fits your comfort level.
We've worked with a lot of patients who used to dread the dentist and now walk in without that knot in their stomach. Nitrous oxide gives you a light, floaty feeling that melts away tension during your visit. Because Dr. Nelson is the only dentist you'll see here, you never have to re-explain your history or your fears to someone new each time. Patients tell us that continuity, combined with a gentle touch, is the reason they finally feel comfortable getting the care they've needed for years.
What Nitrous Oxide Does, and Doesn't Do
Nitrous oxide is a mild gas you breathe through a small mask over your nose. It helps you relax and may make time feel like it's moving faster, but it does not put you to sleep. You stay awake the whole time, able to answer questions and respond normally. It is not a memory eraser either. Some patients remember their visit clearly, others remember very little, and both are completely normal.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Sedation?
Nitrous oxide works well for children who feel nervous in a new environment, adults with a strong gag reflex, patients with a fear of needles, and anyone carrying past trauma from a rough dental experience. It's also simply an option for anyone who would rather feel extra relaxed during a longer procedure. If you're unsure whether sedation is right for you or your child, our Children's Dentistry team can talk through options at your next visit.
